About

Binghamton enjoys an active, large, diverse, and proud fraternity and sorority community. The 41 fraternity and sorority chapters currently at the university provide a great opportunity for students to form lifelong bonds of friendship while being challenged to strive for excellence. Members of Greek organizations are expected to maintain high academic standards and be committed to developing leadership skills while serving the community and becoming active participants in campus life. All students are encouraged to take the time to get to know Binghamton’s fraternity and sorority members and their organizations.

Although membership in Binghamton fraternities and sororities is open to all students, there are eligibility criteria which govern the membership selection process. Prior to seeking membership a student must have completed at least 12 credit hours either at Binghamton or while matriculated at another accredited college or university, must be a matriculated full-time student at Binghamton and have at least a 2.50/4.0 cumulative GPA.

The recruitment or “rush” process, as it is sometimes called, generally occurs near the beginning of a semester and includes a variety of activities that enable prospective members to meet and socialize with students who are already members of the various Greek organizations. Participating in recruitment activities is a good way to learn more about a particular fraternity or sorority and meet new people regardless of a student’s choice to join.
